In the installation work “The Wall” a structure is arbitrarily constructed across the width of the gallery space, covered in pink ostrich feathers.
The wall appears to be both solid and immovable and light and ephemeral at the same time and acts as a contradictory object in space. Often physical structures and wall constructions are coded as masculine whilst feathers and the colour pink are conversely coded as feminine. The installation questions the arbitrary nature of the gender binary played out in contemporary society and the allocation of arbitrary characteristics to objects and by extension people.
