We live in an age of image proliferation. Visual media constantly bombards us across multiple platforms, from print and television to computers and mobile phones. Images are consumed and discarded within seconds. The internet has further paved the way for sharing and repeating this information producing a global, digital community desirous of palatable information bites, a perpetual, omnipotent, devouring machine and a global culture obsessed with material consumption.
We live within this landscape of selfies, soundbites and 104 character tweets, our every move, meal and moment captured for posterity or at least for a few seconds. We have become saturated, bombarded and lost in this transient melee. Our lives a colour coded kaleidoscope, designed for and marketed to, branded and commodified from birth to death.
iThink, iPhone, iView, therefore iAm has become the mantra of the day and the way we live our lives.
