According to a recent report, suicide is now the ”leading cause of death by injury in Australia”. For Australian men suicide is now the greatest cause of death. The Australian Bureau of Statistics reports that the greatest increase of death from suicide was male youth, or men aged 15 years to 24 years. 

In rural areas male youth suicide is double that of metropolitan figures, moreover same-sex attracted youth are six times more likely to attempt suicide than the population as a whole. This sculpture is designed to reflect upon these facts and enable communication, change and acceptance.
